Total Station

A Total Station is a surveying instrument that combines an electronic theodolite and an electronic distance meter (EDM) to measure angles and distances.
Here are some features:
- How it works: Uses a telescope to aim at a target, and an EDM to measure the distance to the target by sending out a laser beam
- What it measures: Vertical and horizontal angles, and the slope distance from the instrument to a particular point
- What it’s used for: Construction layout, topographic mapping, infrastructure development, land surveying and more
- Accuracy: Typically within a few milliradians or seconds of an arc, and can get within 1.5 millimeters of the true distance over a distance of up to 1.5 kilometers
- Benefits: Eliminates the need for multiple instruments, reduces manual labor and mitigates the risk of human error.
